It is hard to be in front of the camera with all eyes on you. I get that. It is particularly rough on the littles some times. On a recent photo shoot, we had a little guy who just wasn't feeling it. The remedy to the situation made me smile and the results made my favorite photos of the session.
So often photo shoots are a lot of pressure, it is pressure for the parents to get ready and getting their kids ready is often next to impossible. I know parents have followed their kids around all day the day of the shoot making sure they didn't collect any scrapes, bumps, or bruises before they see me. These parents are taking time out of their day, usually a day off, and spending money on having me photograph them. I can see where the parents feel like they have to "perform well" for me. So when a kiddo starts to act like "huh-uh, there is no way you are getting me to smile today. Forget about it!"...I can see where mom or dad might just lose it.
However, "losing it" doesn't make for great photos. As a matter of fact, yell at a child during a photo session and see what happens. If you thought you weren't getting smiles before, you certainly aren't getting them now.
So, when I looked through my view finder and saw this little bub wasn't having it and then mom and dad were immediately on it, making him laugh instead of yelling at him to smile, I knew I had to capture that.
The results were amazing! Look at those smiles! What an adorable family!
Good job, guys! I am looking forward to seeing you this weekend!
