Family Fun | Fort Wayne Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing family friends last weekend.  I'm lucky to have known them for quite a while.  I have known McClain since he was in middle or high school.  He went to the Navy for a while - and lived in beautiful, wonderful places with his wife, Ashley.  Lucky for us, they ended up back here in Fort Wayne.  I'm so glad he is married to Ashley.  She is hilarious and sweet - and I'm so glad we know her through McClain now.  It doesn't end there...they have two absolutely beautiful girls.  I'm smitten with both of them.

This is Halle.  She decided on this location all by herself.  She is sweet and super smart...

and hilarious.  I was trying to get a "real" smile out of her - because kids usually want to give you the cheesy cheese smile - so we were saying funny things that were getting good laughs.  Then she said she had a good one, so I told her to go for it.  She said, "Clean your room!!!"  and gave me a super laugh smile.  I loved it.

We also have loads of silly faces...but I'm saving that for another post.

This is Ella...

I consider her somewhat of a miracle baby.

There were some complications with her and momma at birth.

I think it was a serious close call.  We are thankful to have them both still with us.

There was a reason I named this post "Family Fun" - this family is FUN

And...

fun loving...

*love*

*cute love*

McClain was a real trooper.  I know not many guys really want their photo taken...they don't want to pose...and it's all a bunch of crap for them.  I get it.  So when I got some exaggerated fun out of him - I thought it was hilarious.

That's the spirit!

Thanks, McClain, for being such a trooper.

And Ella...for giving me awesome silly faces.

Beautiful Family Love

12 grades of school are almost in the books | Fort Wayne Senior Photographer

This last weekend, I was lucky enough to photograph this lovely lady.

She is a senior this year.

I can't believe it.

I've known her for almost 10 years.  We lived next door to her family about 7 years ago.

And here she is...10 years later.

Again I say...I can't believe it.

This makes me nervous for my emotions with my own children.

If it has gone this fast for her...I know it will fly for my own kids.

She is a great girl.

She was a little nervous to get pictures done.  She's not one to want all of the attention on her.

But I think she did an outstanding job...and how can it be bad when you are this beautiful?

My family and I were so lucky to have them as neighbors.  I was so thrilled when I ran into her and her mom at the store and they asked me to take her senior photos, honored really.

We had a great time walking around downtown Fort Wayne...discussing graduation plans, future plans, and life.  She is going to go to school to become a professional trainer.  I hear her biceps are fantastic.  :)

I wish her the best of luck in all she does.

And I hope that if marriage is ever in her future...I will be able to photograph her wedding too!  :)

Congratulations, Mazie Hake!!  You handled these last 12 years like a pro!  And I will be sure to look you up in a few years so you can be my professional trainer!

Mornings with Vinny | Fort Wayne Photographer

As I was sitting down to breakfast with Vinny, my 3 year old, I realized that this time won't last forever.  We usually have breakfast together after my husband is off to work and my older two children are off to school.  I don't particularly enjoy that my children get older every day.  So today, I decided to record the now - for later.

Some mornings it's Kix

some mornings it's cinnamon organic cereal

it's Cheerios today

This is the cuteness I see every morning

Tasty goodness

Crazy hair

We don't care

Back at it....and maybe Kix tomorrow.

The best of friends | Fort Wayne Photographer

This past weekend it was my pleasure to have my daughter's best friend, Avery, over.

We haven't seen her in a long time.  She was our neighbor and then they moved across town.  Between school schedules, ball schedules, and life - we hadn't had the girls together for a couple of months.  I love their family, to say the least.  There are many days where I sit and think how wonderful it would be if they still lived next door.  We decided to really make it an effort to keep the girls in contact since they were so close.  I think it's great because I also love her mom - I think she is pretty awesome.  I got a friend out of the deal too - bonus!

I didn't realize the complete change it would make to our household having Avery over night.  I kept commenting to my husband that, "all is right with the world again".  I'm sure he was sick of me saying that by Sunday.  I just couldn't get over it.  My daughters pre-teen attitude had melted away to nothing.  My kids played together.  Together!  Without fighting even!

When I looked out my dining room window and saw this - I'm not sure anything could have made me happier at the moment.  They were trying to show Avery how to "do Spiderman eyes".  It had been such a change of pace from what had been normally going down at our house lately.  I had no idea that the Spiderman eyes lesson would warm my heart as much as it did. It's just what I needed to see.  I had been getting a little weepy lately that my baby girl was soon to be 12 years old.  I'm not a fan.

I should have known better - to never underestimate the power of a great friendship.  What a wonder a day with a friend can do for your soul.  To be able to laugh and play and have the most important thing on your mind be the candy bars that mom is going to the store to get for you is priceless.

After Avery was gone that evening we sat down to dinner.

My husband asked my daughter, "so, did you enjoy Avery being here?"

Alyssa - "yes"

Josh - "Good, I know your mom did!"

and I did.

Max - "so did I!"

This made me know I was right - all was right with the world again.  Even my 9 year old son was happy to have her over, because she is fun and really is part of our family.

I'm so glad summer vacation is just around the corner and we can get them together more.

Friends Rock!

Softball Saturday | Fort Wayne Photographer

Today was Softball Saturday

It was a beautiful day for ball.
That's my girl covering 3rd base...and her good friend Grace (on 3rd)

I really wish they would be on the same team some year.  Maybe when they are older and play for school.
Grace "is hardcore" - I told my mother-in-law as we were watching the game.  My husband agreed.  She's an awesome catcher.

Here's my girl on third.  Read to go!

This is Coach Smead.  He doesn't coach either of the teams that were playing today.  I am pretty sure he was there scouting for the All-Star league.  I not-so-secretly wish and pray that Alyssa is on his team each year.  We got him once.  He is awesome.  I think he might be the best coach I have ever encountered because he is super encouraging to his team.
He was showing our pitcher some moves.  See what I mean?  Who gives tips to other teams?!  He's awesome!

I was occupied by the game and conversation with my mother-in-law, when I realized I didn't see my husband or my youngest.  I turned around to see this....

I loved this

my boys = love

And after all of that....Vinny was thirsty

Super thirsty.  Then he came home and quickly passed out.  Good stuff!
