"Johnny Appleseed, he was quite a guy. A hero, guaranteed...as American as apple pie!"
Funny what you remember from 5th grade choir class.
This last weekend was the 39th annual Johnny Appleseed Festival. People from all around come to join in the festivities. In my adult life, I am not sure I have missed a year of it. I have finally figured out how to enjoy the festival with my kids and still see and taste everything I wanted to encounter.
This year I went by myself - the first day. Then I took my boys with me the second day. (My daughter is 14 years old and obviously too cool to go...yet requested food brought home) It was perfect.
Here is a look at my first day:
The weather was perfect both days, and the turn out showed that it was.
I used to think the antique section was ridiculous. Now, I find all kinds of fun little gems. I must be getting old! ;)
I am a fan of Edgar Allen Poe, so naturally I liked this...
I didn't buy anything this year, which was a little disappointing. But it was fun to look.
I loved this. It almost made it's way home with me.
There was a vendor with amazing flowers. I almost bought some to brighten up the house, but it is always hard for me to justify spending money on flowers that will be gone in a week. So, I appreciated them while they were there.
And the cast of festival characters....
(Santa even showed) ;)
There was a little impromptu band that set up and started playing. They were from out of town. It was a fun little something different.
Those dreads!
The sights and smells is everything it ever was - fall goodness. I am grateful we have such a wonderful kick off to Autumn.
Fall is officially here!
Until next year, Appleseed friends...
